Overview
The Principal Engineer provides subject matter technical expertise in the electrical design, construction, and ops. They will participate in the development, review, and/or approval of engineering studies, design guidelines and standards, design criteria, equipment specs, technology selection, process control strategies, operational strategies, plans & specifications development, etc. Strong working knowledge of practices and principles with hands-on design experience in cogeneration, advanced automation, controls, and relay coordination.
Responsibilities Responsible for providing technical leadership on issues related to Electrical, Power Distribution, long-term Energy Management planning and relay coordination. Requires strong design and maintenance background and experience in managing complex electrical design projects. The facility's electrical infrastructure consists of a primary 115KV to 4160-volts distribution system, 4160-volt switchgear, 480-volt switchgear/MCC, 4160-volt generators working in parallel with emergency generators, and the PG&E utility grid. This engineer participates in coordinating engineering, construction, and maintenance projects with other engineers, consultants, operations, and maintenance personnel. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mech, Chemical, or related engineering discipline.
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional eng experience
in wastewater treatment or a comparable industry,
including at least three (3) years of experience at a level equivalent to Wastewater Facility Senior Engineer.
A Master’s Degree in Environmental or Electrical Engineering or other related discipline is preferred and may be substituted for one year of professional engineering experience.
California P.E. in Electrical Engineering (PE-EL) is required
- commitment to earn CA PE-EL within 12 mos. may be considered.
