Job Summary
The Production Leader is responsible for supporting daily layer operations at a designated site. This role involves hands-on management of bird care, facility maintenance, and production quality, ensuring efficient and compliant operations. The Lead plays a crucial role in maintaining bird health, optimizing egg production, and supporting the implementation of company policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions Oversee daily bird care activities, including feeding, watering, and ventilation management Monitor bird health and coordinate with veterinarians and nutritionists as needed Implement and maintain cleanliness standards in layer houses Manage mortality extraction and disposal processes Execute pest control programs, including rodent and fly management Assist in coordinating maintenance and repairs of layer facilities and equipment Perform equipment troubleshooting and basic maintenance tasks Monitor egg quality and work to minimize checks before processing Assist in coordinating feed delivery and ensuring proper formulation Implement biosecurity protocols and ensure compliance with animal welfare standards Support the maintenance of records for regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, FSMA) Assist in bird placement coordination with pullet facilities Participate in employee training activities Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in poultry production, specifically in layer operations Strong knowledge of poultry husbandry and animal welfare practices Familiarity with biosecurity protocols and food safety regulations Ability to work in various climate conditions and lift up to 50 lbs. Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Experience with production management software Familiarity with lean manufacturing or process improvement concepts Bilingual in English and Spanish Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a farm/production setting, involving regular exposure to outdoor elements, livestock, and various types of production equipment. The role demands physical stamina, requiring extended periods of standing, walking on uneven surfaces, and frequent lifting. The work environment includes exposure to typical farm conditions such as dust, odors, and noise. Adherence to safety protocols and biosecurity measures is essential. This hands-on role requires adaptability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in both independent and team-oriented situations.
