Job Description Salary: $72,000 - $90,000 Job Title: Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher District Wide Location: Romeoville, IL Pay Range: $72,000 $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher to join our district-wide team in Romeoville, IL. This teacher will plan and deliver instructional lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities in the areas of balance, strength, mobility, and fine and gross motor coordination. The APE Teacher will provide both direct and consultative services for learners requiring adaptive physical education and will actively participate in the IEP process for students being evaluated for or already receiving services.
Responsibilities: Design and implement adapted PE lessons to support individual student needs. Provide direct instruction and consultative services across multiple school sites. Support student development in mobility, coordination, balance, and strength. Collaborate with general and special education staff, therapists, and families. Participate in the IEP process, including evaluations, progress monitoring, and goal setting. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and district guidelines.
Qualifications: Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Physical Education Endorsement. Must have an Adaptive PE Approval or the ability to attain one. Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
