Responsibilities

Summary: Panasonic Energy is seeking ambitious interns to join the world's largest lithium ion battery initiative. With superior battery designs and the fastest manufacturing lines in the world, Panasonic Energy invites you to join us in this ongoing full-scale effort to electrify our society.

Job Summary: The Production Engineering Intern (Electrode) will support assembly operations through process analysis, defect reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role includes conducting root cause analysis, assisting with preventative maintenance, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The intern will collaborate with international teams, support documentation efforts, and contribute to daily production performance monitoring. Through hands-on learning, the intern will gain exposure to assembly processes, quality assurance, and engineering problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The program will be a full-time paid summer internship working for Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America onsite in DeSoto, KS

Essential Duties:

Process & Quality Improvement

n
Analyze production defects, perform root cause analysis, and recommend process improvements.
n
n
Monitor assembly processes, perform visual inspections, and support KPI reporting.
n
n
Assist the quality team with defect analysis and documentation requirements.
n

Operations & Technical Support

n
Support Maintenance Technicians with preventative maintenance procedures.
n
n
Read and diagnose error codes while applying corrective actions where possible.
n
n
Operate material barcode scanners and maintain knowledge of chemical/oil labeling and SDS requirements.
n

Collaboration & Communication

n
Work with international teams and translators to support global collaboration.
n
n
Communicate effectively with coworkers through clear verbal and written updates.
n

Safety & Compliance

n
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with FIFO standards.
n
n
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using 5S principles.
n

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.
