The MS/Tele RN provides safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac diagnoses. The unit cares for stroke, TIA, and general cardiac patients (CHF, sepsis with hemodynamic instability, pre-procedural care, etc.). Nurses are expected to manage a 1:4 ratio, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide patient/family education.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
- Monitoring telemetry and managing dysrhythmias.
- Administering medications, blood products, and managing central/PICC/peripheral lines.
- Providing respiratory support (HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, trach management).
- Supporting patients pre/post cardiac procedures.
- Delegating tasks to appropriate staff and mentoring new hires/students.
- Floating within scope of practice to other units or campuses (Ashby/Herrick) with 1.5-hour notice (shuttle available).Ax
Eligibility & Requirements Requirement Details Experience 2 years RN experience required (MS/Tele), 1 year minimum for consideration Travel Experience Not required Patient Ratios 1:4 (Days/Nights/Weekends) Charting System Epic preferred License CA RN license required at time of submission Certifications ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA only, must be active at submission) Required Skills Telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV therapy, line management, heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), rapid response Additional Skills Trach management, chest tubes, oxygen delivery systems, wound care/wound vac Orientation 16 non-billable hours + modules (1–5 hrs, non-billable; excess beyond 16 hrs is billable) RTO Policy Only 1 holiday RTO approved Local Candidate Policy Must live >50 miles from facility (locals accepted at reduced rate) Floating Policy Required within hospital and between campuses (shuttle provided) Vaccine Policy COVID-19/Flu vaccine policy unknown (to be confirmed) Background Must disclose any DUIs or background issues before submission Return Staff Policy Must be gone 1 year before returning as traveler #HCRR
