Join Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus Neuro Team as we open up a brand new state-of-the-art facility in 2027! We are looking for a passionate Assistant Nurse Manager to support and oversee all neurology units during nighttime hours and monitor the daily clinical operations of the department. You will oversee RNs, LPNs, MAs and other patient care providers to ensure patients receive the best professional nursing care possible. In this role you will not have direct reports or admin tasks - you will provide hands on leadership and coaching as we prepare to build our team for the grand opening in 2027.
Cleveland Clinic's Neurological Institute is dedicated to the care of adult and pediatric patients with neurological disorders. The institute utilizes a multidisciplinary, disease-specific, and patient-focused approach, integrating expertise across specialties to provide comprehensive care. Recognized nationally and internationally for clinical excellence, the Neurological Institute leads in the treatment and research of complex neurological disorders and in advancing innovations in neurology.
A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide clinical supervision and coordinate unit operations under the direction of the Nurse Manage and assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.
Deliver effective and efficient patient care to all ages on assigned shifts or as designated.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments regarding patient care issues.
Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts and coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers and other operational matters.
Review major operational and patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
Conduct ongoing clinical evaluations of nurses and other patient care providers on the unit.
Counsel employees on performance issues and administer initial corrective actions; monitor attendance concerns.
Alert Nurse Manager to significant clinical or performance issues.
Participate in interviewing, selecting, and appraising the performance of employees.
Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and Cleveland Clinic policies and procedures.
Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care on the unit.
Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts.
Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
Assist in orienting new personnel and provide continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
