We are seeking a strategic and inspirational VP, Accounting, External Reporting & Compliance to join our dynamic team. The VP of Accounting, External Reporting, and Compliance plays a critical role in safeguarding Build-A-Bear's financial credibility by overseeing accurate financial reporting and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position has a significant strategic impact, driving informed decision-making and mitigating risks to support the company's long-term success

Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a high-performing Finance team Inventory, lease, and entertainment compliance and reporting SEC documentation oversight (10-K/10-Q, proxy statements, earnings and press releases, tables, disclosures, and tie-outs) Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements Oversee the implementation of new accounting standards Lead related system implementations and upgrade Lead global income statement and balance sheet review meetings Perform technical accounting research, develop and ensure compliance with accounting policies Evaluate contracts to assess and address accounting implications Support Controller on audits and SOX compliance Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA 8+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting Experience in a publicly traded company Leadership experience managing accounting teams Skilled expertise in SEC reporting GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards Proficiency with Microsoft Office Proficient with Microsoft Dynamics P
