The Superior Court is accepting applications for the position of

Court Interpreter (Cantonese), Intermittent Part-Time . Under the supervision of the Interpreter Services Manager, this role involves providing language interpretation services to assist LEP (Limited English Proficiency) parties, court personnel, and the public. The interpreter will perform various interpretation activities for court proceedings and related duties as assigned. This position may be assigned to any court location including Alameda, Berkeley, Fremont, Hayward, Oakland, Dublin, and San Leandro. Example of Duties

Interpret from and into English and Cantonese using simultaneous and consecutive modes during court proceedings and for court-related departments. Make sight translations of court documents such as petitions, reports, waivers, and disposition statements. Interpret for judges, attorneys, court staff, and other departments as directed. Research legal terminology and understand court functions. Receive and complete daily calendar assignments and documentation. Assist with general court information and document processing related to interpretation duties. Perform other related interpretation duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess: A valid certificate as a "Certified Court Interpreter" issued by the Judicial Council of California or registered as a Court Interpreter. A valid California Class "C" driver's license or alternative transportation method. Eligibility to work in the U.S., verified through fingerprint check and appropriate documentation. Hiring Process
