Produces detailed computer-generated scans of patient's head/body for diagnostic and interventional information. Performs a variety of patient care tasks; assists patients on and off the scanner, verifies identification prior to scan, enters patient information into system from requisitions and ensures files are archived onto local media and networked to RELAY/PACS and completed properly in RIS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all outpatient procedures/policies within the CT Dept. Engages in additional duties as assigned while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to departmental needs.Obtains ARRT or NMTCB (R), (T) or (N) registration, applicable state licensure(s) – (Radiography)(Computed Tomography) Confirms correct patient and exam to be performed through patient confirmation and interview, patient history, medical record, appropriately modifying and documenting as needed to ensure accurate imaging and records. Explains exam to patient taking into consideration individual physical, emotional and language needs; Ensures patient compliance and understandingAdjusts scanners and injectors to correct settings for all exams and is able to set automated and manual technical factors to safely image patientsPerforms required imaging using the appropriate equipment according to department protocol and/or Radiologist requestEnsures exams are labeled correctly prior to transmission to PACS, ensures images successfully arrive in PACSAdheres to all departmental and hospital policiesQualificationsMA License required (R, N or T)ARRT (R) (N) or (T), or NMTCB RegistryAdvanced CT registration requiredwithin 1 year of hireCPR certification requiredwithin 90 daysCompletion of a medical imaging certificate/Diploma required, Associate's preferredMust effectively use interpersonal skills to communicate with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
