Sr. Engineering Manager, Software Composition Analysis at Semgrep. Semgrep is on a mission to make it expensive to exploit software. We built the Semgrep AppSec Platform to deliver industry-leading code, dependency, and secrets scanning to enable organizations to ship secure code quickly without slowing down development.
As an EM for Semgrep's supply chain team, you’ll lead a team building customer-facing tools to help developers secure their software from vulnerabilities introduced by dependencies. Our goal is to cut through the noise and make supply chain security simple and intuitive so developers can focus on their own mission.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product and design partners to create a roadmap for your product that balances iterative changes with bold bets
- Prioritize and direct your team’s schedule, balancing developing new technology with internal technical quality
- Retain and strengthen engineers with coaching and mentorship, regular feedback, performance reviews, and, when necessary, performance management
- Build an environment of trust that rewards creativity, risk taking, and personal responsibility
- Continually grow your team through hiring diverse, productive, high-level technical talent
Ideal qualifications
- 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
- Strong foundation in product development and bringing products to production with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, including design best practices, iterative milestones, and customer feedback
- Familiarity with agile development principles and iterative milestone development
- Desire to coach and mentor engineers and other leaders
- Experience with Software Composition Analysis, security products, or dev tooling is a plus
You might spend a typical day
- Collaborating with team, product management, and engineering leadership to craft strategic direction and quarterly roadmaps
- Setting goals in team meetings to align short-term execution with long-term product vision
- Coaching a senior engineer to mentor others through challenging projects
- Contributing technically to deliver new features and to understand the team's work
Compensation
Salary Range: $171,000 - $239,000. Our compensation package includes equity and benefits in addition to salary. The range listed is for someone based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
