Murfreesboro Housing Authority – Murfreesboro, TN

The Murfreesboro Housing Authority (MHA) is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the agency. The CEO will oversee all aspects of MHA operations, including housing program development, fiscal management, community partnerships, and compliance with HUD and state regulations. This individual will serve as the primary liaison with the Board of Commissioners, HUD, state and local officials, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to advance MHA’s mission and long-term goals.
  • Oversee daily operations, staff leadership, financial management, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement housing programs, including new development initiatives.
  • Represent MHA to community, governmental, and business partners.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and public/private partnerships.
  • Lead and support affiliated nonprofit organizations associated with MHA.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public/Business Administration with 7+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience (minimum of 4 years in senior-level PHA executive management), OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public/Business Administration with 10+ years of experience (minimum of 6 years in senior-level housing authority administration), OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by MHA.
  • Strong knowledge of HUD regulations, public housing programs, and affordable housing development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contracts, and organizational operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and community relations skills.
  • Experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) development, financing, and compliance required.
  • Ability to be bonded and meet insurability requirements.
