SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $90,000

Organization Overview: Friends of the Children revolutionized the youth mentoring field by creating the first and only long-term professional mentoring program in the country. We identify vulnerable children early, enroll them for 12+ years, and commit to supporting their high school graduation and post-program outcomes through a salaried, professional mentor (Friend).
Position Overview: The Program Director leads the coordination and implementation of our evidence-based program in Dallas, Texas. This individual will hire, lead and inspire Friends, implement the child selection process, and cultivate and maintain relationships with schools, families, and the community. The Program Director works with national and Texas program teams to build a high-performing, sustainable organization leveraging network best practices and partnerships.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Organizational Leadership and Strategic Planning: Participate as a senior management team member in strategic planning, budgeting, and policy decisions; ensure compliance with budgets and program guidelines; communicate with the Executive Director about program status and issues; develop and oversee projects as required.
- Staff Leadership and Supervision: Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate Friends; mentor and provide resources; conduct performance appraisals; coordinate initial and ongoing training with the national program team; lead weekly staff meetings; communicate organizational data and policies; raise and resolve issues.
- Program Oversight and Implementation: Understand the needs of each family; use feedback data to set priorities; develop and sustain best-practice programming; ensure culturally appropriate programming; ensure data quality and timely entry; manage state and federal grant requirements and participate in audits and reviews.
- Youth and Family Engagement: Build trusting relationships with families; review Road Map goals monthly; identify areas of interest for each child; seek and document feedback from parents/caregivers and include in quarterly reports.
- Partnerships and Community Engagement: Maintain relationships with partner schools and community partners; train others to support relationships; manage child identification and selection processes; participate in national and Texas network communications.
- Additional Responsibilities: Recruit and hire staff; oversee issues affecting youth; ensure policy compliance; articulate the organization’s mission and act as a spokesperson; create professional development opportunities; perform other duties as assigned.
