Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development, oversee initiatives tailored to PhD students across Charles River and Medical Campuses, including the PhD Progression program and the Vitamin PhD podcast.
- Supervise student interns or student employees who support program development and communications.
- Coordinate and collaborate with university partners to conceptualize and develop new initiatives and resources addressing PhD student skills development and career preparation.
- Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to address professional development needs and questions.
- Collaborate with BU faculty and staff, and with the Assistant Provost of Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development to develop and facilitate new workshops and short courses.
- Direct professional development initiatives and resources for PhD students, identify areas for development of new or expanded programs.
- Lead programs and workshops for the PhD audience and host joint professional development events with other director colleagues as appropriate.
- Directly supervise student employees fulfilling data analysis and communications needs, and student podcast interns.
- Design assessment tools and analyze data to improve professional development programs; collect and analyze data to support PhD student-related policy.
- Collaborate on communications related to PhD professional development, website content and social media, and targeted emails to students and faculty mentors.
- Contribute to and lead special projects in Graduate Affairs, including developing new resources or initiatives and conducting high-level data collection or reporting for university leaders.
Qualifications
- Education: PhD degree.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience working with PhD students and/or postdoctoral scholars in a higher education setting (postdoctoral experience may count toward years of professional experience).
- Skills: Communication/Oral & Writing (Advanced).
