Android Wi-Fi & AOSP Engineer - San Francisco, CA - $165K - $200K

We're looking for an elite Android Wi-Fi & AOSP Engineer to own and evolve the core system features that keep media streaming and wireless connectivity buttery-smooth across embedded Android devices. Your work will directly shape the way people experience Google Cast and high-performance wireless networking worldwide.

What You'll Work On

  • AOSP Wi-Fi Innovation: Build, customize, and enhance the Android Wi-Fi stack & middleware (above driver level) for cutting-edge embedded devices.

  • Google Cast Performance: Optimize Cast connectivity & streaming for flawless user experiences.

  • Connectivity Debugging: Diagnose and crush tricky issues like authentication failures, roaming glitches, and signal instability.

  • Streaming Optimization: Tune QoS, buffers, and channel selection to keep high-bitrate media running glitch-free.

  • Supplicant Wizardry: Solve complex wpa_supplicant problems involving authentication, encryption, and hand-offs.

  • Driver & Chipset Collaboration: Partner with low-level engineers to integrate & debug with Qualcomm, Broadcom, and other leading Wi-Fi chipsets.

The Skills You Bring

  • 10+ years of Android development, with deep AOSP and Wi-Fi stack expertise.

  • Proven experience flashing and customizing AOSP for embedded devices (Java + C/C++).

  • Mastery in debugging Android's Wi-Fi framework & middleware.

  • Solid grasp of wireless fundamentals - beacons, probe requests/responses, scanning behavior.

  • Strong coding skills in C++, Java, and/or Kotlin .

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with Qualcomm/Broadcom Wi-Fi SDKs or firmware.

  • Open-source contributions to networking or casting projects.

  • Proven success optimizing Android for real-time or media-intensive workloads.
