Senior Manager of Financial Reporting
Our client in Chicago is seeking a Senior Manager of Financial Reporting to join the team. You will lead the accounting and financial reporting for one or more BDCs, ensuring timely and accurate execution of the month-end close, reporting, and analysis. This role involves hands-on leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence and process improvements.

$140,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
- Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Lead all accounting and reporting activities for assigned BDCs, including oversight of month-end close processes and reconciliation of the investment portfolio ledger to the general ledger.
- Oversee calculation and booking of fund-level expenses such as management fees, incentive fees, and accruals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and Investment Advisory Agreements.
- Review and analyze consolidated balance sheets, income statements, and monthly reporting packages, proactively identifying and addressing unusual trends or variances.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and investor reporting materials.
- Investor & Capital Activity Management
- Lead and oversee capital calls, dividend distributions, IRR statements, and other investor-level activities for self-administered funds.
- Manage relationships with third-party transfer agents to handle shareholder activities, including new capital inflows, share redemptions, and issue resolution.
- Forecasting & Analysis
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly performance forecasts to provide leadership with early insights ahead of the close.
- Analyze liquidity forecasts to support capital planning, enhance investor returns, and ensure compliance with BDC regulatory requirements.
- Review the Schedule of Investments and supporting schedules used for footnotes, MD&A sections, and investor presentations.
- Governance & Process Excellence
- Ensure execution of monthly and quarterly controls in accordance with the firm’s control matrix.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation of processes to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Lead and mentor junior team members, providing coaching and professional development.
- Strategic Initiatives & Collaboration
- Prepare board materials and presentations for senior management.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Operations, Tax, and Investor Communications to support operational and reporting needs.
- Contribute to special projects such as rating agency forecasts, technology upgrades, proxy filings, and fund-level strategic initiatives.
