Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Camera Validation Engineer with strong expertise in the development and testing of camera and display systems within the consumer electronics industry. In this role, you will play a key part in integrating and optimizing next-generation computer vision and RGB cameras as well as see-through display systems for both current and future smart wearable and augmented reality devices. Your work will directly contribute to advancing the capabilities and quality of cutting-edge wearable and augmented reality products.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to system-level validation efforts for optics across emerging wearable technologies.
  • Design and execute tests; analyze data; conduct objective and subjective evaluations of camera system performance across hardware and software components of the imaging pipeline.
  • Provide expert hands-on support for system and user-level characterization and calibration.
  • Assist with occasional manufacturing test support at partner sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Master\'s Degree in Imaging Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Image Processing or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience as a test engineer validating image/video quality test metrics and calibrating compact optical systems.
  • Hands-on experience in an optical lab environment with data acquisition setups.
  • Knowledge of image quality test protocols and standards; experience with lab testing and analysis for camera and display metrics.
  • Experience implementing and debugging image quality test infrastructure (hardware, charts, software, automation, opto‑mechanical components, motion control stages, optical filters, lenses, sources) and evaluation platforms (e.g., Imatest).
  • Proficiency in Python; experience with libraries such as pandas, numpy, OpenCV; willingness to learn new libraries as required.
  • Familiarity with ADB commands for debugging and data acquisition.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to generate accurate, informative reports to aid development teams with root-cause analysis.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to juggle multiple tasks within a cross-functional team.
  • Required: 5+ years of experience with imaging science background.
  • Familiarity with HW development of image sensors, optics, display engines and their evaluation methodologies.
  • Understanding of overall system-level interactions in imaging and display pipelines for products with multiple sensor modalities.
  • Basic knowledge of optical simulation tools and mechanical design software for test design.
  • Experience evaluating performance optical hardware, image processing techniques, ISP blocks for mobile cameras.
  • Hands-on experience prototyping with macro-scale imaging targets and interfacing fixtures for sensor devices; experience with off-the-shelf optomechanical components.
  • Hands-on debugging of image quality issues and familiarity with artifacts.
  • Experience device bring-up and debugging including FW flashing, scripting for data acquisition, logging and processing.
