Immediate Opening CT Academic Dean (HUMANITIES)

Overview

As an Academic Dean at Achievement First, you will coach teachers and drive decisions that benefit our scholars. You will lead high-quality coaching to help teachers develop strong content and to foster a lifelong love of learning in students. You will support a school community that challenges all students to achieve excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze school-wide data to design responsive and effective student interventions.
  • Develop highly effective instructional curriculum and schedules in collaboration with the principal and Network Support Office (Team Teaching & Learning).
  • Observe lessons regularly and provide targeted feedback to teachers.
  • Collaborate with grade/subject teams to plan units, lessons, and assessments; regularly share feedback.
  • Assist teachers in devising and monitoring high-impact support plans for students.
  • Model outstanding instruction for teachers.
  • Coordinate and manage professional development sessions aligned with school goals and priorities.
  • Direct interim assessment processes to ensure teachers use current data to drive instruction; lead debriefs with teachers on interim data.
  • Lead staff trainings at the start and end of the school year and on professional development days.
  • Participate as a member of the school leadership team; analyze data to design interventions, track academic metrics, and communicate progress to students, teachers, and parents.
  • Support character development and school culture in collaboration with the dean of students; help develop leadership skills in teacher leaders.

Necessary Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.
  • State school leader certification or ability to obtain certification within the first two months of employment.
  • At least 3 years of K-12 full-time lead teaching experience with a record of high student achievement.
  • At least 1 year of experience coaching and leading adults to achieve high student outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary; salaries set based on skills, education, and experience.
  • Salary ranges: NY region: $94,725-$123,595; CT/RI: $90,041-$117,483.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with match, and paid family leave.
