Early Career Trial Attorney (Remote - Westchester/Putnam/Rockland County - New York)

Join to apply for the Early Career Trial Attorney role at Allstate. As a Trial Attorney, you'll handle bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, and more, with trials, arbitrations, and mediations. You’ll provide counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams, while monitoring changes in laws and regulations to keep strategies sharp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
  • Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of statements, and maintain communication records.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
  • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.

Minimum Requirements

  • 0 - 4 years of professional work experience
  • Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process
  • Strong client communication, ability to prepare summaries, and maintain records of interactions
  • Knowledge of legal ethics and professional conduct
  • Foundational negotiation techniques for client interactions and settlements
  • Must be commutable to courthouses throughout the greater New York area including Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties

Compensation

$105,000 - 120,000 annually and is based on experience and qualifications
