Chief Human Resources Officer – Williamsburg, VA – June 2025
William & Mary seeks an experienced, dedicated, and strategic Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead its human resources function during a time of transformation and growth.
The CHRO serves as an essential member of the President’s Cabinet and reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration, joining a leadership peer group including the chief financial officer, chief information officer, chief business officer, and other key operational leaders for the university. The CHRO will shape the university’s workforce development strategy, enhance HR service delivery, and foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership of the university’s human resources function during a period of transformation and growth.
- Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and report to the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration.
- Lead efforts to shape workforce development strategy, improve HR service delivery, and nurture a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least ten years of leadership experience in HR.
- Deep familiarity with best practices across all HR functions.
- Experience working in a complex setting and ERP system migration.
- Ability to bring a team mentality and collaborative leadership style.
