Responsibilities

  • Understand and analyze business requirements to translate them into technical requirements.
  • Design, build, and operate scalable data architecture and modeling solutions.
  • Lead workstreams and ensure quality in all processes; manage engagement economics and budgets.
  • Engage with clients daily, participate in working sessions, and identify opportunities for additional services.
  • Drive end-to-end data pipeline development using Databricks and other cloud services, ensuring data quality, governance, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with other data and analytics professionals, management, and stakeholders to ensure business requirements are translated into effective technical solutions.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Lead design and development of scalable data engineering solutions using Databricks on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Oversee architecture of complex cloud analytics solutions aligned with business objectives and best practices.
  • Mentor and manage a team of data engineers, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand analytics needs and deliver value-driven solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and governance across the data lifecycle.
  • Drive end-to-end data pipeline development, data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders; manage client relationships and expectations.
  • Stay current with trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; proven project delivery experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Typically 4–6+ years of relevant experience in data engineering with cloud data solutions and analytics.
  • Expertise in Databricks and Spark for big data processing.
  • Strong data architecture and design background; experience building complex cloud analytics solutions.
  • Experience leading and managing teams with mentoring and talent development.
  • Programming skills in Python, Scala, or SQL; strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with client management experience.

Managerial expertise

  • Strategic Leadership: align data engineering initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Project Management: manage multiple projects and teams, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: work with executives to understand needs and present solutions.
  • Change Management: guide clients through data transformation and technology adoption.
  • Risk Management: identify risks and develop mitigations.
  • Technical Leadership: lead architectural decisions affecting outcomes.
  • Documentation and Reporting: create comprehensive project documentation and progress reports.

Large-scale programs (examples)

  • Enterprise Data Lake implementation integrating multiple data sources for analytics.
  • Real-time analytics platform development using Databricks for streaming data and risk detection.
  • Data Warehouse modernization to cloud-native architecture with Databricks ETL processes.
