This is a Seasonal/Temporary position.
About the Department The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in community-based organizations to alleviate poverty and promote community growth. It administers city, state, and federal funds to support youth and community programs, including the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which offers paid summer jobs to youth aged 14-24 across NYC.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct site visits and monitor program quality at employment/internship sites.
Provide administrative support to ensure policy adherence and safety.
Verify contractual compliance with program requirements.
Travel extensively across all five boroughs for site evaluations.
Document program implementation and performance during site assessments.
Review worksite procedures for compliance with city, state, and federal guidelines.
Utilize Wireless Monitoring Devices provided by DYCD.
Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, answering phones, and data system management.
Track program activities and develop partnerships with employers.
Prepare reports and support program communications and presentations.
Monitor social media for participant issues and address concerns.
Review program files for compliance and security.
Represent the program at public events and community meetings.
Schedule and Work Environment Work hours are Monday-Friday, with shifts at 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm, or 11am-7pm, based on program needs. The position may include in-person, remote, and hybrid work arrangements.
Qualifications
No formal education or experience required; preferred Bachelor’s degree.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, and Google Maps.
Ability to travel independently using NYC Transit System.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Mathematical skills are a plus.
Additional Information Eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness programs. NYC residency required within 90 days of appointment, with some exceptions.
