Overview

Child and Youth Program Leader - 2,000 Dollars in Sign-on and Retention Bonuses Available. Incumbent provides appropriate specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in one or more CY programs. This includes guidance, assistance, and mentoring for the CY Program Assistants. The incumbent works under the direction of the supervisor or other qualified higher graded employee, who provides guidance on scope of assignments and assistance on more complex, nonroutine problems encountered. Responsibilities

Provide direct care and instruction to children and youth (6 weeks to 18 years) and mentor CY Program Assistants. Perform routine day-to-day assignments independently with technical assistance available from the supervisor as required; routine assignments are spot-checked and more technical tasks are closely reviewed for policy adherence. Mentor CY Program Assistant team; work with senior employees to provide instruction and training; assist in completing the Standardized Module Training. Support the T&C Specialist in translating professional development training into practice through mentoring, guiding, and role-modeling. Plan and implement activities for program participants; adjust activities based on the needs of individual children and youth; accommodate special dietary or physical needs as provided by parents. Prepare program options for children and youth with special requirements; assist with homework, life skills, and projects. Set up and maintain indoor and outdoor environments; inventory and replenish supplies; secure facilities and equipment. Promote positive interactions among participants; supervise and manage program activities, including field trips and special events. Communicate professionally with parents and installation command personnel; participate in conferences and briefings; provide updates on program activities and participant progress. Observe and document developmental progression and concerns; assist with assessments as needed. Ensure compliance with DoD DoD/NAF policies, standards, and local installation guidance; support DoD certification and national accreditation requirements. Collect and report program participation data; perform other related duties as assigned; a complete list of duties will be provided at hire. Requirements

This position is a Test Designated Position (TDP). Consent to pre-employment and random drug testing required. Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, a Tier 1 Child Care check, and a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check. Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check and resolve any discrepancies. Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide immunization evidence, be free of communicable diseases, and obtain relevant immunizations. Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as needed. Ability to complete required training certificates and maintain certifications required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation bodies used in DoD CY Programs. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. Starting May 7, 2025, access to CNRMA Installations requires a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other acceptable ID. Qualifications

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to this position. A qualified candidate possesses the following: Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs to meet physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of children and youth from 6 weeks to 18 years. Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques. Skills to apply Federal and State laws governing detection and prevention of child abuse and/or neglect. Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals and groups in a CYP environment. Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling. Leadership, mentoring, and guidance abilities for CY Program staff. Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations. Ability to train employees on issues including recognition and identification of childhood illnesses and child abuse. Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides. Excellent written and spoken English communication and strong interpersonal skills. One (1) year of experience at the CY-02 (GSE-04) level or equivalent in developmentally appropriate programming for children and youth. Education

Options include: Completion of DoD Standardized Module Training AND 12 months experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) level. Or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Military School-Age (MSA) credential AND 12 months experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) level. Or a minimum of a 2-year degree in Youth Development, Child Development or related field AND 12 months experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) level. Note: If your degree is not awarded, provide HS Diploma or equivalent as applicable. If you possess DoD training certificates, you must also provide HS Diploma or equivalent. Additional Information
