Overview

Youth & Family Services Program Director for the Eastside Family Y. The role supports the work of the YMCA, leading development and operations with a primary focus on After School Child Care (ASCC) programs. The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic, mission-driven nonprofit committed to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

Report directly to the branch Director of Y&FS on behalf of the Y&FS department. Develop and maintain a positive childcare leadership team with the Director of Y&FS and Assistant Y&FS Director, working toward high-quality, high-value programs for members and participants. Directly recruit, train, supervise, and develop part-time staff and volunteers in partnership with the Human Resource department and the Association Director of Y&FS Programs and Quality. Conduct and report staff evaluations annually, as well as ongoing evaluations to ensure high-quality staff are in place. Communicate with the Association Director of Y&FS Programs and Quality for program and staffing support, curriculum development, staff development and training, growth initiatives, and engagement/retention. Act as the Childcare Cabinet representative for the branch. Participate in quarterly reviews with executive leadership to evaluate progress, staffing, results, and goals.

Program Development & Operations

Manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of the After School program for the branch. Oversee operations during the school year including planning, hiring, staff management, and daily implementation. During the summer, assist with camps as needed and prepare for the upcoming After School year through staff recruitment and family outreach. Develop and implement high-quality childcare curricula and activities for students of various ages and developmental stages. Organize and schedule program registrations for After School. Coordinate facility use for daily activities and secure facilities and admissions for field trips and events. Arrange transportation for field trips and supervise transportation activities. Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in line with Association and branch plans.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with state and local childcare regulations and safety procedures.

Budget & Resource Management

Purchase and maintain materials and supplies for the ASCC program, including snacks. Develop and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

Community Engagement & Marketing

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations. Promote childcare programs in coordination with branch marketing plans. Develop and implement recruiting plans for YMCA childcare programs.

Other Expectations

Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers and maintain abuse risk management practices. Attend required abuse risk management training and comply with reporting requirements. Provide ongoing supervision and training regarding abuse risk to employees and volunteers; offer regular feedback and enforce policies. Report essential abuse risk information to the board of directors and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood, recreation, human services or equivalent. Two or more years of supervisory experience in school-aged childcare, teen programming, and/or day camp management. Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements, YMCA standards, and ACA standards for day camps. Strong interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including the ability to make oral presentations. Experience in staff and volunteer supervision, values education, community program development, and fundraising. Must be able to drive a bus and be at least 20 years old to drive a bus; ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Mandatory training in New Staff Orientation, BBP/Child Abuse Prevention, and CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days of employment. Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be determined commensurate with qualifications and experience.
