Overview
Director, Software Engineering - Collections Technology Modernization Capital One's Card Tech Engineering Organization is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead, manage, mentor, and build exceptional software engineering teams to deliver game changing technologies. The Director must attract and recruit top talent and have the technical capability to build compelling, customer-focused solutions in an iterative methodology. As a Director of Software Engineering in Capital One’s CardTech Customer Resiliency (CR) team, you will lead Collections technology teams focused on modernizing the data ecosystem and the core of the real time intelligent collections (RTIC) application. In CR Collections, we service Card customers in difficult financial moments and help them get back to good standing with Capital One. RTIC modernizes to support flexible, configurable, and extensible solutions using Capital One enterprise platforms, as part of the modernization journey. Responsibilities
Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers
Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
Work with product leaders to define the strategy, roadmap, and destination architecture
Manage a portfolio of diverse technology platforms and projects to build scalable applications that meet customer needs
Continuously improve software engineering practices
Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
Stay on top of technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers
Encourage innovation and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, with a spirit of teamwork, self-organization, and critical thinking
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 7 years’ experience in software development
At least 5 years’ experience in people management
At least 3 years of experience in public cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Qualifications
Master’s Degree
10+ years of experience in software development
3+ years of experience building and scaling consumer applications
4+ years of experience with AWS

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries are for candidates hired to work within the specified locations and reflect the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed number of hours. McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200 for Director, Software Engineering New York, NY: $287,800 - $328,500 for Director, Software Engineering Richmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software Engineering Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location, and the actual annualized salary offered will be reflected in the offer letter. This role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
