The Monetization team plays a critical role in making commerce easy and accessible for businesses of all sizes by increasing the adoption and utilization of Block’s products, through smarter pricing experiences, plan comparisons, and in-app upgrade paths. As a Staff/Principal Frontend Engineer, you will lead initiatives to build elegant, user-friendly, and accessible experiences that directly influence product adoption and monetization. You’ll join a thoughtful and collaborative team where product, data, design, and engineering work closely to deliver high impact outcomes. You’ll craft reusable components, drive architectural decisions, mentor others, and influence pricing strategy and technical excellence while helping scale a world-class frontend engineering culture. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys writing code and partnering with product, design, and other teams to bring new experiences to life. You Will

Design and implement complex, user-facing features and frontend architectures that scale. Build and scale React-based applications with high standards for performance, maintainability, and accessibility. Lead critical engineering initiatives that impact product monetization, conversion, and feature adoption. Define the technical strategy and raise the standards on best practices across frontend architecture, performance, accessibility, testing and maintainability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly prototype and iterate on ongoing initiatives. Drive the deprecation of legacy frameworks like Ember, helping modernize our stack. Prioritize and advocate for tooling and platform investments that improve engineering velocity and system extensibility. Explore and apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted automations to enhance development workflows. Mentor engineers across the organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence, inclusion, and high-velocity execution. You Have

12+ years of industry experience building for the Web, with a proven record of successfully delivering large multi-year features. Deep expertise in React and modern frameworks with experience building and maintaining large-scale React applications. Hands-on experience in building high-quality, reusable components and production-level interfaces at scale. Proven ability to lead large projects with strong collaboration, communication, and ownership while working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders. Deep experience in operational excellence and frontend system health including leading and setting org-wide reliability standards. The ability to define technical north stars and serve as a culture carrier for engineering quality and inclusive collaboration. Curiosity about emerging technologies and their practical applications in system workflows. Even Better

Experience leading frontend architecture for platform-wide components or frameworks. History of driving org-level technical migrations or architectural transformations. Significant experience working with component libraries and design systems. Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation tooling. Understanding of business and growth metrics, with the ability to translate them into UX and engineering strategies. Strong commitment to web accessibility and experience implementing accessibility guidelines in applications. Familiarity with GraphQL, Redux (or similar state management libraries), and component systems like Storybook. Previous work in SaaS, subscriptions, or pricing applications would be a plus. Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. Zone A: $263,600—$395,400 USD; Zone B: $263,600—$395,400 USD; Zone C: $263,600—$395,400 USD; Zone D: $263,600—$395,400 USD.
