Senior Director, Government Affairs and Public Policy State and Local Base pay range: $304,000.00/yr - $423,000.00/yr US base salary range for this full-time position is $304,000-$423,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is influenced by work location and other factors. Preferred locations include Mountain View, CA; Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Washington D.C., DC. Develop and drive a coordinated state and local policy agenda, in support of Google’s business priorities. Monitor policy issues of importance to Google, create a positive regulatory environment to enable innovation and growth by synthesizing Google’s positions and educating policy makers on key policy issues, and communicate policy positions effectively to government constituencies. Build trusted relationships with US state and local political leaders and institutions, including governors, attorneys general, mayors, city councils, state legislators, and other relevant stakeholders. Establish and implement strategies to communicate policy positions effectively. Develop public affairs strategies and campaigns that build relationships, strengthen our reputation, and advance our public policy and business objectives. Create and manage executive engagement plans with legislators, other elected officials and state agencies, including staffing executives for visits, preparing documents, briefing executives, updating executives on critical topics. Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience 15 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporations Experience working in state and local government relations, government affairs, public policy, political campaigns, lobbying, outreach, or research Preferred qualifications
Experience leading teams through change, innovation, or disruption, and adapting strategy as needed Experience leading policy or public affairs work for corporations or third-party organizations (e.g., being a lobbyist or running campaigns) Experience leading cross-functionally with multiple senior stakeholders and a proven ability to influence at all levels of the organization Experience with staffing and managing executives, with excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills Familiarity with Internet/technology policy with demonstrated interest in keeping the Internet open and free Ability to integrate public policy with business strategy and corporate development About Google and Equal Opportunity
