City of Westminster . POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION This Is a Professional Engineering Position In The Department Of Public Works And Utilities. The Primary Purpose Is To Safeguard Public Health And Safety By Providing Safe, Reliable Drinking Water And Environmentally Sound Wastewater Treatment And Disposal Services. The Work Includes Management of capital improvements projects and long term planning to support the City’s infrastructure, budgeting, and public participation. Responsibilities Management of capital improvements projects involving water distribution systems, water treatment and storage facilities, pump stations, wastewater collection systems, wastewater treatment and lift station facilities, reclaimed water distribution systems, and reclaimed water treatment; development, coordination, project management, plan review, and construction inspection of utility CIP projects; manage projects from master planning through construction within defined schedules and budgets. Support Long Term Planning, Communications and Public Participation; inventory of infrastructure assets and planning for CIP; align with the City’s two-year budget cycle, rate and fee studies, and development activities; participate in communications to increase knowledge and awareness of infrastructure. Work Context Work is under the direction of the Utilities Engineering Administrator, with latitude for independent judgment. Attendance at occasional evening meetings is required. On-boarding program provided. For this recruitment, the City desires to hire at Senior level with potential progression to Principal level. Compensation (2025 ranges) Senior Engineer: $114,020.00 - $142,537.00 Principal Engineer: $131,775.00 - $164,713.00 Additional information includes language stipends, equity statements, and general City values (SPIRIT: Service – People – Integrity – Respect – Innovation – Teamwork). Job Specific Qualifications Education, Experience, Skills, Licenses, and Certifications Required: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil or environmental engineering or closely related field; valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Engineer: Experience in design, construction, and/or review of water/wastewater systems; ability to obtain Engineer-in-Training credential within six months. Senior Engineer: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in design/construction of water/wastewater systems; minimum of five (5) years in development review; registration as a P.E. with Colorado Board. Preferred (Senior Engineer): Eight (8)+ years in design/construction; municipal or advisory experience for municipal government; Master’s Degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field. Progression to Principal Engineer requires supervisor’s performance review and meeting certain requirements (including ten (10) years of related experience). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Work is sedentary; includes occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; indoor office environment with possible field inspection and travel; may require evening or weekend events.
