We are seeking a talented Senior Plumbing Design Engineer who values mentorship and leadership and who thrives in designing full plumbing systems, including determining design criteria, drawing sequence, system design presentation, sizing of system components, equipment selection and system layouts for domestic water, sanitary and vent, storm water, compressed air, industrial gases, vacuum, and fire protection systems for large, complex manufacturing facilities in the food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, life science, and advanced technology sectors. You will be joining a firm that evaluates each project before engagement to ensure the right capacity, skillsets, and licenses. Our environment focuses on mentoring new engineers to avoid a steep learning curve. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of plumbing systems, codes, US national and international standards, and experience in preparing engineering calculations, including heat and cooling loads, ventilation, and energy calculations. of our team, you will help create and implement state-of-the-art mechanical design solutions, elevating manufacturing plant efficiency and safety for clients in semiconductor, data center, cleanrooms, high-tech facilities, food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, and life science sectors. We offer multiple career tracks for advancement, including a technical track. Key Responsibilities: Mechanical Engineering Leadership: Lead mechanical engineering projects with a focus on plumbing design, ensuring adherence to industry standards and effective integration in complex facilities. Plumbing Code Expertise: Apply knowledge of US model plumbing codes and the Uniform Plumbing Code and/or International Plumbing Code to designs that meet high safety and quality standards. Familiarity with FDA sanitary/hygienic guidelines for GMP/cGMP facilities is preferred. Industrial Plumbing System Design: Design and implement plumbing systems for food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, and life sciences sectors; familiarity with semiconductor, data center, cleanrooms, and other high-tech facilities is beneficial. On-site Construction and Installation Supervision: Oversee construction and installation of industrial plumbing systems. Problem Solving and Analysis: Apply strong analytical skills to address engineering challenges and develop solutions. Collaborative Design: Work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive mechanical solutions. Software Proficiency: Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD for design and project management. Mentorship and Team Leadership: Guide and mentor junior team members to promote professional growth. What You’ll Bring ASPE Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) active; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a specialization in industrial plumbing design. Technical competencies (under supervision of a licensed mechanical engineer): Plumbing fixture count analysis Domestic water incoming service sizing Sanitary drain and vent sizing Grease separator sizing and selection Domestic water booster pump sizing and selection Compressed air compressor and distribution sizing High-pressure compressed air system sizing (40-Bar, preferred) Lift station sizing and selection (preferred) FOG treatment systems (preferred) Facility assessments and system deficiency studies Prepare permit, bid, and construction drawings; review work packages Resolve RFIs and FCRs Plumbing Code Mastery: Deep understanding of Uniform and International Plumbing Codes. On-site Experience: Extensive field experience in construction and installation of industrial plumbing systems. Design and Problem-Solving: Proficient in designing complex systems and solving challenging problems. Experience in Industrial Facilities: Experience in food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, and life sciences; preferred experience in semiconductor, data center, cleanrooms, or other high-tech facilities with GMP/cGMP exposure. Software Skills: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks; MS Office proficiency. Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Travel: Willingness to travel 10-20% for project needs.
