Senior Lead Server Engineer
The Senior Lead Server Engineer will provide technical leadership on major datacenter tasks or infrastructure assignments, establishing goals and plans that meet program and project objectives.
They will plan and lead significant technology initiatives, evaluate performance results, and recommend major changes to ensure short-term project growth and success.
The role functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
This position involves systems engineering throughout the entire system life cycle to support datacenter modernization.
Develop an understanding of the customer's organization, goals, business needs, and enterprise architectures and systems. Establish system development and integration methodologies and standards such as the ELCM.
Facilitate the collection, storage, security, and integrity of electronic data, ensuring appropriate access. Continually assess the technology needs of the government, select, and introduce technologies that further the mission, and prepare for Cloud Services.
Provide excellent third-level support and innovate in the delivery of IT services such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Monitor all servers/services, core applications, and test procedures for recovery from catastrophic failures. Support Contingency Operations (COOP) and Disaster Recovery Program (DRP).
Monitor datacenter environment and maintain hardware inventory of all racks. Implement the Capital Equipment Replacement Program (CERP) to manage equipment replacement efficiently.
Develop system architectures that adhere to the Enterprise Architecture. Gather user requirements and ensure business solutions align with client strategic goals and investment decisions.
Employ best practices in system design, development, integration, and implementation. Apply business process improvement practices to reengineer processes, principles, and methodologies.
Implement state-of-the-art systems and technologies in the client environment, using leading-edge approaches. Research and evaluate system designs to select appropriate technology and optimize resource use.
The Senior Lead Server Engineer is expected to supervise team members.
This role requires onsite presence at a government building in downtown Washington, DC, three days per week.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
Possess a base-level certification such as A+, Security+, or Network+.
Hold a Core certification within their functional area, such as Server (MCSA, MCSE, Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate), VMware Professional, VMware Advanced Professional, or VMware Specialist.
