Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems and iterate at startup speed to deploy at scale. Our team is fast, hands-on, and focused on closing the gap between design and deployment. As drones transform warfare, Neros delivers the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take extreme ownership, and get capability into warfighters’ hands in months, not years. Overview

What you will be doing The Autonomy State Estimation Engineer will develop, implement, and optimize state estimation algorithms to run onboard drones. This role collaborates with hardware and software teams to ensure robust state estimation across operational conditions. Responsibilities

Design and implement state estimation algorithms, including sensor fusion for IMUs, GPS, cameras, and other onboard sensors. Develop real-time software to run estimation algorithms on embedded systems. Test and validate state estimation solutions in simulated and real-world drone environments. _debug_ and improve estimation performance under challenging conditions such as sensor noise, environmental disturbances, and hardware constraints. Collaborate with autonomy, controls, and perception teams to integrate state estimation with navigation and flight systems. Stay up-to-date with state estimation techniques and technologies. You should have the following

3+ years of experience developing state estimation algorithms for robotics, drones, or similar systems Strong knowledge of sensor fusion techniques such as Kalman filters, extended Kalman filters (EKF), or particle filters Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ or Python Experience implementing algorithms on embedded systems or real-time platforms Familiarity with sensor technologies like IMU, GPS, cameras, and lidar Strong mathematical and analytical skills in linear algebra, probability, and optimization Experience with simulation tools and frameworks (e.g., Gazebo, Mujoco) US Salary Range

$150,000 - $200,000 USD The salary range is an estimate based on base salary and varies with experience, education, and other factors. Equity grants are part of Neros’ total compensation package.
