We are part of the Distech Controls Enterprise Solutions team (DCES). You will be responsible for developing and delivering control system solutions for strategic customers and will lead design and software engineering activities to support large and/or multi-site building automation projects. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work with Project Managers and Application Engineers to deliver consistent engineering and project delivery for Strategic Account Customer projects. Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Develop and manage control submittal packages that meet project specifications and scope Create installation drawings outlining field wiring, part selection, controller IO assignment, panel layout, and sequence of operation required for project completion Translate Building Automation and Control System requirements into solutions that meet customer needs and create competitive advantage through innovative design Identify potential improvements within the existing engineering process and tool library Coordinate with customers to ensure expectations and requirements are met with the engineered solution Assist sales with developing realistic estimates for engineering effort based on project scope, specifications, and drawings Work with project managers, other application engineers, and Cx field engineers to align engineering activities with project schedule and budget; coordinate with 3rd party vendors Meet with other application engineers to ensure understanding of project design for programming, graphics, and commissioning Provide assistance in troubleshooting installation issues during startup and commissioning of building controls and systems Develop and refine engineering processes, standards, and documentation to increase efficiency and productivity at scale while maintaining quality Provide cross-functional support to Sales, Service, and other Project Teams Engage with customers to enhance their experience with the Distech Controls Enterprise Solutions team Skills And Minimum Experience Required
Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or more than 5 years of directly related experience At least 5 years experience in Building Automation System industry or related field with direct experience in drawing development Expertise in drafting software (Visio, AutoCAD) to develop Building Management System drawings Ability to work effectively from a home office/remotely; self-motivated and capable of prioritizing tasks without daily supervision Ability to balance creativity, detail, and productivity when developing new drawing details and solutions Current passport and ability to travel up to 40% Experience developing complete control submittal packages for new and retrofit BMS projects Familiarity with energy savings control sequences including ASHRAE Guideline 36 Familiarity with control panel design; experience integrating multiple software packages (Excel, Word, Visio) Understanding of computer networking and common protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LON) Strong ability to review project drawings, specifications, site audit reports, and existing control systems to understand building operations Experience auditing existing buildings and control systems for retrofit projects Experience developing and managing project RFIs Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to empathetically understand others' issues and creatively resolve them to achieve successful outcomes Preferred Skills And Experience
Proficiency in Visio; AutoCAD experience preferred Niagara AX and N4 Framework Distech Controllers and related hardware devices Travel Requirements
Up to 40% travel within the US with some international travel (valid passport required) Compensation and Benefits
