JOB PURPOSE:

To supervise and direct the financial activities of the hotels by providing financial information about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future. This position will be based out of The Monarch San Antonio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.

Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing, and payroll tax compliance.

Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure that accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components, including billings, cash receipts, etc, funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing, including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.

Assure income tax compliance to make sure that you complete all income tax returns accurately, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.

Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the company's value.

Responds to General Manager/CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.

Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Attend all hotel meetings as requested by the General Manager.

Supervise the accounting office staff, including scheduling, disciplining, and training.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company.

Ensures that all guest interactions meet the highest level of service and a warm welcome/departure for all guests.

Operate the facsimile machine to send, receive, and log incoming transmissions.

Supervise the computer networking and applications of the hotel.

Communicate with the corporate office concerning tax audits and other corporate matters.

SPECIAL SKILLS

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.

Basic mathematical skills and considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on large, complex programs with great attention to detail while continually presenting a positive attitude, great customer skills, and a passion to succeed.

Ability to listen effectively and to speak English clearly.

Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergencies.

Analytical abilities to make sound decisions.

Knowledge of basic hotel operations.

Knowledge of standard hotel policies, finance, and internal controls.

Ability to coordinate and cooperate with other departments regarding financial activities.

The ability to manage credit operations.

Ability to organize detailed information.

Strong leadership skills.

Supervisory skills to manage finance operations.

The ability to work independently and prioritize projects.

Strong financial analysis and modeling skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent required.

A minimum of a 4-year college degree is preferred.

A minimum of five (5) years of previous hotel experience is preferred.
