Associate Dean (Career Technical Education) San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) Location: Continuing Education Position Type: Academic FLSA Status: Exempt Posting will remain open until filled with a closing date of 09/20/2025. This is a full-time management position reporting to the President of SDCCE. Major Responsibilities
The Associate Dean of Career Education will supervise all operational functions of the Strong Workforce Program (SWP), Perkins, and other career education grants and projects. Primary duties include: Develop and manage annual work-plans, budgets, expenditures, and multiple reports in accordance with regional, state, and federal requirements/regulations. Evaluate SWP program performance in enrollment, completion, transfer, and employment outcomes. Oversee development of web-based systems to collect, track, and monitor SWP metrics across instructional programs and services. Collaborate with Career Education (CE) faculty to develop new curriculum and programs in emerging occupational areas. Assist with marketing/outreach, industry advisory activities, and coordination of workforce development activities. Align the Strong Workforce Plan with the Colleges strategic goals and the Student Equity Plan to optimize resource use for student success. Oversee all aspects of apprenticeships, work experience, and work-based learning; integrate career services across instructional programs and student service areas. Supervise career services faculty and staff; coordinate academic and student services with administration, faculty, and staff; provide joint professional development to enhance integration of career services. Develop and oversee a coordinated student employment and outcome tracking system for career services across all instructional programs. Minimum Qualifications
In Compliance With Policies Adopted By the Board Of Trustees, applicants must show evidence of the following minimum qualifications: Possession of a Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution AND one (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrators assignment; OR Possession of a lifetime California Community College Supervisor Credential. Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and success coordinating Career Education programs and related economic and workforce development projects and activities. Experience managing grant-funded programs, including grant metric evaluations, fiscal/budget development and oversight, and reporting of grant outcomes. Knowledge of hiring, supervising, evaluating, and disciplining faculty and classified staff. Ability to collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff involved in workforce development initiatives and assist in developing workforce development plans. Ability to collect, interpret, and use data to inform CE programs. Experience coordinating career services integration across programs and services; development of new programs and curriculum. Experience directing career services such as employment readiness, career assessment, internship development, and job placement. Experience with database development/implementation and working with participatory governance. Experience building professional, community, and industry partnerships, including industry advisory boards and regional workforce development partnerships. Ability to represent SDCCE in local, regional, state, and community activities related to career technical education and workforce development. Knowledge of using software and web-based information systems to track, report, and present grant outcomes. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Licenses/Pay Information
Pay Range: Range 4 ($9,456.53 - $15,403.70) per month, based on the current Management salary schedule. Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefits package including employer-paid medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development.
