Sr Desktop Engineer

on our Information Technology team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office. Responsibilities Provide leadership in planning, design, and review of emerging/innovative technologies for end-user computing. Design, create and maintain workstations and servers and the personal productivity application platform; establish and maintain desktop architecture standards and automate software distribution. Support the early life cycle and application deployment process; ensure compliance with IT Security standards; understand and configure CIS standards defined by the organization. Workstation, & Application Platform — Design, Creation & Maintenance. Technical Standards Development and Improvement Contribute to strategic plans by anticipating changes in technical architecture and sunset plans of the technical stack. Develop technical standards, evaluate workstation technologies, and recommend new products. Create workstation roadmap and strategies aligned with IT Security roadmap. Application Deployment Support Provide 3rd level client support in the deployment of applications. Manage workstations using enterprise management tools; coordinate with IT Security, Applications, Network teams, and business stakeholders to meet needs. Operational Documentation and Resources Create and maintain technical and operational management documentation; provide guidance to other team members. May Include Other Responsibilities As Assigned Requirements 5+ years’ experience with laptops/desktops, hardware, and software. 5+ years’ experience with SCCM/Configuration Manager, Intune and other Microsoft Systems (Office, DirectAccess, BitLocker, Windows Updates for Business). 3+ years’ experience with VMware virtualization. Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM/MAM) – EMS, Intune, O365 are a plus. Experience designing and implementing SCCM/Configuration Manager and Intune (or other desktop management suites). Subject Matter Expert (SME) in desktop and laptop management; ability to mentor others and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines; comfortable working on multiple projects. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, Computer MIS, or equivalent experience preferred. Additional Technical Skills Analyze and improve SCCM/Configuration Manager and Intune environments; remediate issues and design new models. Enhance desktop security and configuration management through GPOs and Intune policies; strong Active Directory/GPO skills; ability to create custom policies. Experience with Windows 10 to Windows 11 migrations; Office 365 management for large organizations is a plus. Strong understanding of network connectivity, security, and accessibility. Linux understanding a plus; Mac desktop experience is a plus. This role is an exempt position. The salary range for this position is $97,461-$129,056. A variety of factors determine the actual pay, including location, qualifications, and experience. Employees may participate in an incentive plan.
