Overview
New York Edge is seeking a Director of Leadership and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to support the social, emotional, and academic growth of students across school-based programs. This senior leader will work across all school-based programs to foster a culture of emotional well-being, equity, and strong community collaboration. Responsibilities
Design and manage a robust, integrated school-based SEL and clinical support model across all sites. Guide site teams in implementing SEL strategies using research-based frameworks. Oversee the administration and evaluation of SEL pre- and post-assessments. Implement a sustainable train-the-trainer model to build SEL capacity among staff. Oversee the student referral and care management process, including needs assessments, intervention planning, and progress documentation. Provide short-term, strengths-based individual and group counseling and case management services to students and families. Ensure fidelity of therapeutic practices, SEL activities, and evidence-informed interventions. Offer crisis response support, and ensure compliance with all mandatory reporting protocols. Manage partnerships with key SEL and clinical service providers; liaise between schools, caregivers, and outside agencies to secure wraparound supports. Supervise the SEL team budget, ensure effective grant utilization, and track program outcomes. Develop and deliver professional development workshops on child and adolescent mental health, classroom behavior supports, trauma-informed practices, and restorative justice. Provide consultation to school leaders and educators on individual student concerns and classroom climate strategies. Lead supervision of clinical social work interns (BSW/MSW), ensuring adherence to professional standards and ethics. Monitor program quality and implement continuous improvement systems; collect and analyze data to inform strategy, improve service delivery, and report outcomes to funders and stakeholders. Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution Licensure:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State, or in active supervision toward licensure Experience:
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience working with youth in school-based or youth-serving settings; demonstrated experience supervising teams and managing programs; strong knowledge of child development, trauma, culturally responsive care, and restorative practices Skills & Attributes:
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills; strategic thinker with a deep commitment to equity and inclusion; proficient in crisis response, case documentation, and therapeutic modalities; belief in the potential of every student to thrive Salary & Benefits
