As the general contractor, construction manager, and/or project manager, CDB continues to successfully deliver complex and challenging projects, particularly heavy infrastructure projects such as bridges, canals, dams, tunnels, culverts and viaducts. Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Operations Manager oversees operational activities in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia. Responsibilities include hiring project staff, managing training and development and performance management programs for project staff, and leading, motivating and engaging project staff to ensure timely and efficient completion of construction projects. The Operations Manager is responsible for introducing best practices and improving operational processes and related programs. Responsibilities Development and approval of project execution plans for heavy civil projects Development and approval of project budgets, forecasting and cost reports Development and negotiation of contracts with project clients, vendors and subcontractors Development, approval and monitoring of project schedules Management and completion of claims and any associated legal proceedings regarding contract disputes Overall management of staff and resource planning related to project execution Formulate and implement operational strategy Coordinate with other departments to implement strategy Ensure operations are carried out efficiently, timely and within budget Analyze and improve operational systems and processes Develop and implement operations-related programs, including training and development and performance management Manage day-to-day operational activities Develop and deliver operational recruitment strategy Conduct interviews for operational positions Ensure legal compliance of operational processes and programs Lead, support, and mentor project staff Collaborate with management and participate in strategic planning discussions Provide strategic solutions to operational issues Qualifications Education and Experience Diploma in Civil Engineering, Operations or Project Management, or relevant area 10+ years of progressive management experience PMI, PE, PMP certification will be advantageous Experience in schedule planning, budgeting, and company operations In-depth knowledge of project scopes within the industry Knowledge of financial and business management Strong experience in the Mid-Atlantic region Core Competencies Teamwork Exceptional written and oral communication Accountability Job-Specific Competencies Outstanding organizational and time management skills Strong leadership abilities Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to juggle and prioritize diverse requests Adaptability to changing working conditions Computer Skills Proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) Assets Knowledge of French (speaking and writing) Work Conditions Up to 50 hours per week based on project requirements Clear driving record / own vehicle Frequent travel to construction sites across DC, MD, VA Notice Regarding Retention Of Applications All CVs received and not selected for a specific position will be kept in our database for a period of 3 years from the date of receipt.
