Overview
Inova Clinical Engineering is looking for a Biomedical Equipment Repair Engineer 2 to join the team. This is a full-time day-shift role from Monday – Friday. Candidate must be available to travel to Inova Outpatient and Ambulatory sites. The Biomedical Equipment Repair Engineer 2 is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of medical equipment, providing thorough analysis and timely resolution of issues, and maintaining the integrity of the service management system database. Responsibilities
Troubleshoot communication and interface issues between medical devices and electronic medical records systems. Monitor, maintain and repair wired and wireless connections that transmit patient data to the electronic medical record. Complete and oversee preventive maintenance service and other scheduled services in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and the equipment management plan. Coordinate vendors contracted to perform preventive maintenance and repairs of medical equipment. Oversee vendor performance, monitor quality of work, and ensure vendors follow manufacturer guidelines and hospital standards and policies. Train BMET I on preventive maintenance, repair procedures, techniques and use of test equipment. Demonstrate competencies in repair techniques and tests for daily activities. Complete and oversee PM and other scheduled services (such as installations, special projects, tagging of medical devices, department sweeps, incoming inspections and additions/deletions) at assigned completion rates. Document all service events in the service management system to ensure accurate PM and repair history in accordance with hospital and equipment management plans. Generate and review reports from the service management system, including inventory, QA, PM completion, stock on hand, and open call reports. Maintain an accurate parts inventory in the service management system, including parts selling to customers on service calls, goods-in, parts returns, and quarterly/year-end inventory validation following proper security protocols.
