AMD . The Role: We are looking for an adaptive, self-motivated design verification engineer to join our growing team. The Verification Engineering team fosters continuous technical innovation and supports career development. The Person: A successful candidate will work with and help lead verification engineers. The candidate will be highly accurate and detail-oriented, possessing good communication and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities
Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, applying knowledge of electronic theory. Perform pre-Silicon Functional Verification of next-generation high-performance microprocessor designs. Develop and execute verification test plans at various design levels, including unit and full-chip environments. Hands-on technical leadership contributor in functional verification. Provide technical leadership; identify bottlenecks and propose new features to improve processes. Develop high-level language testbench components including stimulus drivers, BFMs, behavioral models, monitors and checkers. Develop, simulate and debug directed and random stimulus and assembly-level tests to validate microprocessor design and ISA conformance. Find and resolve bugs with RTL writers to address simulation failures and discrepancies. Develop and analyze assertions and coverage terms; participate in technical reviews of specifications, designs and test plans. Develop tools, infrastructure, processes and flows to enable functional verification. Document test plans and testbench component plans; drive reviews with peers and stakeholders. Maintain and improve existing functional verification infrastructure and methodology. Replicate silicon issues in the pre-silicon environment and provide debug expertise to root cause issues and ensure complete validation. Contribute to pre-silicon and/or post-silicon verification of complex architectural and microarchitectural features. Drive project deliverables and dependencies with cross-site Architects, RTL writers, and Physical Design engineers. Independently develop quality, timely, and cost-effective solutions; demonstrate technical leadership across project boundaries. Establish and maintain AMD’s technological leadership; champion innovation across the organization. Represent AMD to the outside technical community, partners and vendors. Preferred Experience
Documented and demonstrable expertise in at least four of the following (academic or professional): Modern computer architecture including processor pipeline and memory hierarchy Hands-on C++ programming for hardware modeling or testbench development Logic design and HDL (Verilog or VHDL) Assembly language programming and ISA of a modern microprocessor Hardware verification methodologies (simulation, debug, coverage, formal, etc.) Hands-on people management and strategic planning/performance management Experience in Unix/Linux environments Good communication skills and ability to work with a diverse team Scripting languages (Perl, Python or Ruby) Hardware/logic simulators (VCS or NC-Verilog) Debug tools or waveform viewers Verification languages (Specman, SystemVerilog, UVM) Formal verification tools and techniques Modeling hardware designs in emulators or FPGAs Academic Credentials
Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering or Electrical Engineering Location
