Overview
We have an opening for a Licensed Electrical Engineer who will prepare construction documents for new construction, remodeling, and modifications of facilities and infrastructure at LLNL. This position is in the Project Management Office (PMO). The Project Management Office (PMO) provides LLNL with engineering, design, estimating, construction, and project management services. PMO offers cradle to grave infrastructure services to achieve reliable delivery of completed projects with priority on safety, collaboration, and a workforce working toward our shared vision. Responsibilities
Conduct the design of cutting-edge electrical systems for a variety of building projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and ensuring they meet the highest standards for safety and efficiency. Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, and calculations (e.g., load flow, branch, short circuit, arc flash, system reliability, relay coordination, motor starting). Review designs prepared by subcontracted engineers for code compliance and constructability. Determine functional electrical requirements for new or modified specialized equipment and support systems; perform electrical engineering calculations for short-circuit analysis of facility power distribution systems and arc flash safety analysis using SKM and Agi32 for lighting. Utilize expertise and independent judgment in the National Electrical Code (NEC) to craft electrical solutions for new constructions, remodels, and expansions, transforming spaces into state-of-the-art facilities supporting the Laboratory mission. Represent the Project Management Organization in providing solutions to a diverse range of moderate to complex facility electrical technical issues; foster cooperative relationships with stakeholders and partner with electrical supply vendors to specify and procure components. Lead multiple complex electrical projects, managing technical criteria, budgets, schedules, and deliverables; perform independent technical tasks related to engineering, planning, design, and construction of LLNL electrical infrastructure. Provide engineering support during construction by reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to contractor questions, evaluating change orders, resolving field problems, and performing inspections; support LLNL electricians and field crews by resolving field questions and coordinating procurement and delivery of materials. Use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare electrical construction packages. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
