TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR PARTY CHIEF (CALTRANS) — Caltrans Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, the Party Chief administers professional land survey tasks in the Field Branch of the Land Surveys Division. The incumbent plans and organizes the work of a land surveys field crew; coordinates field surveying activities with other Caltrans units, contractors, and the public. Performs a wide variety of difficult and complex professional surveying work with independent professional judgment in responsible charge of assignments. Responsibilities

Possession of a valid California Land Surveyors' License. (A Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors). Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) describing education, training, experience, and skills relevant to the position (1-2 pages, 12-point font). Resumes and cover letters will not substitute for the SOQ. Failure to include the SOQ may result in disqualification for interview. Demonstrated experience as a lead worker in land surveys, including hiring, supervising, training, disciplining, and mentoring staff; experience with public and state agencies, contractors, and the public. Experience with field surveys (horizontal/vertical control, boundary, DTM topographic, monitoring, aerial photogrammetric, construction surveys) and office work (DTM processing, point cloud registration, record maps, boundary determination, deed writing, record research, construction plan interpretation). Software experience: Civil3D, MicroStation, TopoDOT, Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, Microsoft Office, and GIS. Experience with field systems: Terrestrial, GNSS, MTLS, UAS. Office experience and related documentation duties as described in the duty statement. Special Requirements
