Overview
Medical Staff and Privileging Coordinator role at Intermountain Health. Provides ongoing support and coordination as liaison between the Medical Staff and Administration, handling credentialing/privileging processes and related administrative functions to support patient care. Responsibilities
Medical Staff Credentialing/Re-Credentialing: process credentialing applications for Medical Staff and Approved Health Professionals, review applications, assist in reviews, route applications through the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Board, notify applicants and staff in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, coordinate cyclical reappointment or temporary privileges, and provide notifications per bylaws. Medical Staff Organization/Structure: maintain and update the Medical Staff database, prepare directories, maintain rosters, and provide orientation/notifications regarding licensure, registrations, expirations, and educational requirements. Knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws and policies; assist Medical Staff with its functions and responsibilities. Schedule meetings, prepare and distribute agendas, and take/minutes for the Medical Executive Committee, Credentialing Committee, and other major Medical Staff meetings. Physician Engagement: support facility initiatives to improve physician engagement and facilitate communication between Administration, MEC, and medical staff. Provider Quality: participate in areas addressing FPPE, OPPE, peer review, and other quality tracking. Support additional Medical Staff office activities (e.g., call schedules, orientations, onboarding, and related functions) and assist regional/system initiatives as requested. Review applicant qualifications for eligibility for delineation of privileges and monitor ongoing professional practice data and credentialing-related documentation as outlined in privilege forms. Minimum Qualifications
Proven interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Experience with computers and software. Ability to participate in confidential interactions with diplomacy and tact. High School diploma or equivalent Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare or as administrative assistant Preferred Qualifications
Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS). Two years hospital and medical staff office experience. Experience with medical terminology. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) within five (5) years of employment. Physical Requirements
Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, and identify equipment; ability to assess customer needs. Frequent verbal interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors; able to communicate and understand spoken information quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity for manipulating supplies and equipment; frequent computer use. For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle, sit, see and read signs and traffic signals. Location
