The Back End Engineering team at Agoda builds scalable, fault?tolerant systems and APIs that host core business logic across inventory, pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner data, booking systems, payments, and more. Our systems undergo frequent releases with state?of?the?art CI/CD and testing techniques, and are designed to be self?healing under extreme loads. We use languages such as Scala and Go, data technologies like Kafka and Aerospike, and agile development practices. You will have a big impact as part of the Back End Engineering team. The Opportunity : The Engineering Manager role is a significant, hands?on leadership position requiring technical excellence, strong leadership, and people development skills. We seek world?class development managers to lead one or more engineering teams. In this Role, youll get to: Be hands on write and review code, provide expert coaching and guidance to engineers. Love engineering and building scalable, elegant systems; contribute to architectural decisions and maintenance. Do full stack engineering across infrastructure, client side, back end, performance, data, and more. Develop people inspire and grow team members; integrate top talent into the business. What youll Need to Succeed : Extremely proficient in at least one programming language (Java, Scala, C#) Strong experience in systems architecture for complex, scalable, fault?tolerant distributed systems Operational ownership and system ownership experience Proficiency in lower?level engineering (garbage collection, context switching, threading) DevOps culture agility, lean, automation, CI/CD Good understanding of application security Passionate about technology and the Internet Experience in a successful agile development team Experience leading engineering teams with 5+ direct reports Ability to operate autonomously with decision making, KPIs, and ownership Data?driven decision making Nice to have : Proficiency in more than one programming language Equal Opportunity Employer At Agoda, we value diverse backgrounds and trigger an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.
