Volunteer and Outreach Manager
– Senior Friendship Centers, Inc. has an opening for a full-time, in-office position based in Sarasota, FL, with travel to SW Florida locations as needed. This is a dual-impact role in the Advancement Department that blends relationship-building, strategic outreach, and hands-on volunteer leadership to enhance the organization's mission of building vibrant communities by advancing wellness, connection, and enrichment throughout the journey of aging. This role requires working at the Sarasota office while also traveling to Senior Friendship Centers’ locations/events.

The Volunteer & Outreach Manager should be highly organized, able to juggle multiple projects, and lead with respect and integrity. Knowledge and experience with the volunteer management software Volgistics is required.
Essential Functions
Volunteer Management
Plan, develop, and implement a strategic volunteer program with a focus on recruiting, stewarding, and retaining volunteers.
Recruit and interview volunteers to work in all program areas.
Gather information about each volunteer's skills, availability, and goals; match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data.
Schedule, coordinate, and assign volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and mentors.
Regularly communicate with volunteers to ensure the placement is a good fit for the volunteer's skills and goals.
Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure volunteer background checks are completed.
Train and work with other departments to onboard volunteers; conduct updated training as needed.
Execute group and individual tours of Sarasota and Venice campuses.
Plan and maintain the Volunteer and Outreach Program budget.
Create and implement an official orientation program for new volunteers.
Maintain files, records, applications, and other data concerning the volunteer program.
Maintain a database of potential, current, and former volunteers, and sync with the Development office's database.
Track volunteer time and attendance; prepare regular reports.
Plan and arrange volunteer recognition events for volunteers in all SFC locations.
Serve as liaison between paid staff and volunteers to ensure department needs are met and volunteers retained.
Send birthday, get-well, and condolence cards to volunteers.
Stay current on trends in volunteerism by attending workshops as needed.
Meet regularly with Program Directors and Managers about volunteer needs.
Draft, maintain, and publish guidelines and procedures for the volunteer program.
Community Outreach
Educate, network, and represent SFC programs to local agencies, coalitions, and stakeholders.
Present to diverse groups, tailoring content to the audience.
Attend community events and staff/volunteer exhibits to recruit volunteers and clients.
Develop strategic partnerships with individuals, businesses, and organizations to elevate SFC’s image and programs.
Create and implement community initiatives to advance SFC's mission.
Collaborate with the development team to plan proactive outreach to promote SFC and its services.
Compose postings for volunteer opportunities for website, social media, and other outlets.
Assist with capturing volunteer photos and testimonials for social media.
Create a committee of ambassador volunteers to represent the organization at community meetings and provide staff support.
Organizational
Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars; comply with all personnel policies.
Protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by following safety policies.
Competencies
Excellent at building and cultivating relationships with the community, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication, including public speaking.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities; strong leadership.
Ability to adapt to organizational needs.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred or commensurate professional experience.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit or related field.
Experience with volunteer coordination and/or community outreach preferred.
Advanced computer skills including Volgistics, Microsoft Office Suite, data applications.
Familiarity with social media and leading presentations desirable.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods at a desk; ability to lift 20 pounds; outdoor events.
Navigate multiple departments within a facility.
Work Environment
The work environment may vary between locations and may include stairs; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities. The organization is drug-free and smoke-free.
Travel
Travel as frequently as needed to support operations, fundraising, and outreach.
Reliable transportation; valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for work travel.
