Fundraising & Development Officer

to lead and grow our school’s philanthropic efforts. This key team member will focus primarily on securing financial support through individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising campaigns. The ideal candidate will be a skilled fundraiser with experience in educational or nonprofit settings, able to develop donor relationships, manage a fundraising pipeline, and execute campaigns that directly support SDA’s academic and athletic programs. Overview

Role: Fundraising & Development Officer. Location: Anaheim, CA (Headquarters). SDA is committed to long-term sustainability and growth of programs through effective donor engagement and fundraising strategies. Responsibilities: Strategy and Revenue Generation (Primary Focus)

Develop and execute SDA’s annual fundraising plan aligned with the school’s scholarship and programmatic goals Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, foundations, and corporate partners Build and manage a robust pipeline of individual and institutional prospects Plan and implement annual giving campaigns, capital appeals, and giving initiatives Collaborate with leadership on naming opportunities, capital gifts, and strategic fundraising priorities Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management

Foster strong relationships with donors, sponsors, alumni, and stakeholders Lead stewardship and engagement efforts to promote donor retention and increase gift size over time Represent SDA at community and networking events to raise awareness and identify new funding opportunities Create compelling fundraising materials, donor communications, and impact reports in partnership with marketing staff Administrative Oversight and Reporting

Track fundraising metrics, donor engagement, and financial outcomes Maintain accurate donor records and timelines using a CRM system Prepare regular fundraising reports for leadership and board members Support and contribute to grant writing, reporting, and proposal development as needed Performance Expectations

At SDA, the Fundraising & Development Officer will be expected to: Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals, with a Year 1 target of approximately $200,000–$250,000 in secured funding through a combination of individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and donor events Work toward generating at least 2–3 times their annual salary in contributed revenue, with expectations increasing to 3–5x as relationships, pipelines, and donor stewardship systems are developed Create a process and demonstrate measurable progress in pipeline development, including cultivation of new prospects, donor outreach, and proposal submissions Contribute to donor retention and stewardship strategies to ensure long-term giving and engagement Performance will be evaluated on a combination of funds raised, growth of donor relationships, and active engagement with the community in alignment with SDA’s values and mission. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Communications, Marketing, or related field Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in fundraising, business development, or advancement Proven track record of securing individual and corporate gifts Excellent relationship-building and communication skills Experience working in a school, educational nonprofit, or athletics-related organization Successful clearance of a criminal background check Legal Authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of private/independent school environments Background or passion for athletics and youth development Familiarity with California-based donors, foundations, or education funders Familiarity with donor CRM platforms (e.g., Bloomerang, Little Green Light, Salesforce) Benefits
