Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer — Trane Technologies We are hiring a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer within the Electric Systems and Components (ESC) Network of Excellence Team in the global Corporate Advanced Technologies organization. The team identifies, develops, delivers, and deploys leading-edge technologies to enable product and service growth and enhancement for our businesses. Responsibilities

Lead hardware development for Power Electronic components for HVAC applications such as DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC. Lead transient and dynamic modeling of power electronics in HVAC electrical architectures, studying interaction with power source and load systems. Lead design validation and productization from early prototyping through manufacturing hand-off. Optimize hardware designs for performance, cost, packaging, and thermal characteristics. Govern and lead design reviews through processes such as FMEA, DFMEA, and Risk Analysis. Guide overall component choices for system design using industry best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HW, CAD, Mechanical Design, Thermal Design, etc.). Coordinate with other design architects and teams to leverage common solutions across the business units. Lead and author detailed requirements specifications for power conversion equipment at various levels. Perform design reviews and ensure compliance with agency standards such as UL or IEC. Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, external partners, universities, and national labs. Identify opportunities to apply emerging power electronics technologies in HVAC applications. Develop project plans, prioritize tasks, and provide regular project updates. Author lab test plans, conduct testing, analyze results, and execute design updates based on results. Qualifications

Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. At least 5 years of professional experience in Power Electronics, with majority in product development. Expert knowledge of concepts such as control systems, power conversion, motors, hardware design, and modeling. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Desired

Master’s or PhD degree with focus on Power Electronics or Controls. Demonstrated thought leadership and innovation in electrified systems and components. Knowledge of residential, commercial, and transport HVAC products, systems, and processes. Ability to work independently or coordinate group efforts for complex engineering tasks. Benefits

Hybrid work schedule with onsite work 3 days per week. Minneapolis, MN; Davidson, NC. Travel up to 15% domestically. Compensation

Base Pay Range: $75,000 - $113,000+ This range reflects US national averages; actual base pay may vary by seniority, merit, and geographic location. Equal Employment Opportunity
