Genentech
Postdoctoral Fellow - Immunology/Computational Biology, Rock and Müller Labs
Genentech, San Francisco, California, United States, 94199
The Position
A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Genentech. We seek a highly motivated candidate for a co-mentored postdoctoral fellowship position in the laboratories of Dr. Jason Rock in the Department of Ophthalmology and Immunology and Dr. Sören Müller in the Computational Sciences Center of Excellence at Genentech. The Rock lab combines in vitro and in vivo models with cutting edge molecular techniques to define the pathobiology of respiratory diseases and develop novel therapeutic strategies. The Müller Lab collaboratively designs high-throughput molecular profiling experiments and applies advanced computational methods to derive actionable biological insights. This is a hybrid computational and wet lab based postdoctoral position. The Genentech scientific community and postdoctoral program provide access to generous state-of-the-art resources and training opportunities. The Opportunity
This postdoctoral position will investigate the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of fibroblast responses to inflammatory stimuli in the context of chronic lung diseases. Additionally, your work will address key project team questions related to both forward and reverse translation. Design and analyze multi-omic experiments, with a primary focus on understanding COPD disease biology from preclinical models and patient samples. Identify and integrate relevant dataset from various internal and external resources. Understand and apply best-in-class algorithms to address biological and clinical questions. Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team of quantitative, experimental, and clinical scientists. Present complex results clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Who You Are
You have a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field; or a Ph.D. in (Molecular) Biology or Immunology with in-depth experience in high-throughput data analysis evidenced by publications. You have experience with single-cell and multi-omic data analysis. Experience with spatial assays and/or clinical data is preferred but not required. You have experience with in vivo or in vitro models, preferentially relevant to lung biology. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to varied audiences. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
