Description Tax Credits & Incentive Advisory ("TCIA"), within Cherry Bekaert's Strategic Tax Advisory practice, is a quickly growing group generating more than $20 Million in annual revenue for the firm. TCIA provides the following services to its clients: Cost Segregation Services R&D Tax Incentive Services Fixed Asset Services Site Selection Services State Credits & Incentives Employee Retention Credit Services Energy Tax Consulting Section 179D Section 45L Investment Tax Credit and Production Tax Credits Inflation Reduction Act application-based incentives What does your day look like? As a Manager in this Strategic Tax Advisory Practice, you will help develop the vision, strategies, and action plans to grow Cherry Bekaert\'s TCIA Practice. Separating the cost components of a building into their proper asset classifications and recovery periods. Identifying assets that were capitalized with improper tax lives. Lead and work with both local and national C / AM team members. Be responsible for helping to manage internal resources and work on IRC Section 41 Research credit engagements. Identifying Qualified Research Expenses in a variety of industries; Calculate the IRC Section 41 Research Credit. Understand the Controlled Group rules in the research credit calculation; Speak to tax managers and tax VPs with respect to the research credit rules; Speak to technical company personnel with respect to technical uncertainties associated with their research. Additionally, as part of this role, you will work closely with other members of our TCIA and Strategic Financial Services (SFS) as we continue to grow our practice in the following areas: Accounting Methods Qualified Opportunity Zone Benefits Energy Credits and Deductions State Credits and Incentives Historic Tax Credits

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the vision, strategies, and action plans to grow Cherry Bekaert\'s TCIA Practice. Identify and separate cost components of buildings into proper asset classifications and recovery periods. Identify assets with improper tax lives and address accordingly. Manage internal resources and work on IRC Section 41 Research credit engagements. Identify Qualified Research Expenses across industries and calculate the IRC Section 41 Research Credit. Understand and apply Controlled Group rules in research credit calculations. Engage with tax managers, tax VPs, and technical personnel about research credits and uncertainties. Collaborate with local and national C / AM team members. Collaborate with TCIA and SFS on related practice areas.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, engineering, technology, or related field. A CPA, MST, MAcc, LLM or JD is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal tax compliance or tax consulting services. Experience with costing models utilizing Excel pivot tables. Desire to participate in strategic planning initiatives. Strong project management and organizational skills. Preference for candidates with experience in accounting methods including uniform capitalization rules; tangible property regulations; capitalization and depreciation; unit of property reviews; cost segregation studies; revenue recognition; and advanced payments. Experience preparing or reviewing Form 3115 is a plus. Candidates may be located in any local office or remotely.

Pay Range

Pay Range: 96,235 to $197,500
