Overview
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) seeks an Executive-level administrator to manage and administer the District's instructional program. The position reports to the District Superintendent/President or designee and serves as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and College Council. This is a senior management role supervising managers and supervisors and contributing to the ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of curriculum and instructional programs.
Location and context: Shasta College sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley with the main campus in Redding, CA. The District serves more than 11,000 students annually and emphasizes equitable outcomes and diverse, high-quality educational experiences.
Responsibilities
Manage and administer the District's instructional program; ensure development and improvement of curriculum and instructional programs; develop, evaluate, and implement policies and procedures related to the District's instructional program.
Represent the District and the Superintendent to the local community and statewide; participate as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and College Council.
Oversee instructional support services (library, learning center/lab services) and analyze staffing needs.
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to instructional operations; ensure alignment with State code requirements and Board actions; coordinate with UC/CSU course offerings and secure Chancellor's Office approval for new curricula.
Direct the development of schedules, catalogs, college calendar, and final exam schedule; supervise the preparation of institutional documents and reports; participate in accreditation-related activities as assigned.
Collaborate with Academic Senate on professional development and program matters; assist in district plans (educational, facilities master, strategic plans); supervise program reviews and student learning outcomes.
Serve on District/department committees; represent the District in negotiations and external meetings; act as Acting Superintendent/President as needed per board policy.
Develop and manage instructional services budget; monitor expenditures and allocations; prepare financial and statistical reports.
Maintain course outlines, college catalog content, and accreditation documentation; coordinate accreditation self-evaluations and reports.
Provide leadership for district-wide dialogue on accreditation objectives and continuous improvement.
Oversee personnel functions for instructional administrators and staff; conduct performance appraisals and staff development; participate in recruitment and contract administration.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution (Doctorate preferred).
Strong background in college teaching or counseling; at least three years of progressively responsible management experience in a post-secondary institution; community college experience preferred.
Experience in collective bargaining; grants administration and implementation; knowledge of accreditation processes.
Commitment to collegial governance and diversity; demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
License: Valid driver’s license; eligible to obtain California driver’s license upon hire.
Additional Information
Salary: Redding, CA; $125,000 - $135,000 per year (typical range; final placement depends on experience).
Work hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week; 12 months per year.
Start date: January 15, 2026 (anticipated).
Job type: Full-time; Administrative salary schedule; CalSTRS retirement applicable.
