SALARY RANGE:

$113,944 to $155,129

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Project Management is responsible for successfully managing and mentoring staff to deliver complex capital & operating projects.

Coordinate project activities through project close-out.

Lead a project or designated program initiative and supervise activities performed by internal staff and consultants.

Program initiatives/projects require highly qualified personnel with extensive engineering and construction knowledge and proven program management, contract administration, project management, and construction engineering experience.

Monitor project performance against baselines and pursue opportunities for improved performance.

Identify project issues and risks and ensure timely resolution and mitigation.

Recommend solutions to senior management for the resolution of critical issues.

Manage project activities to minimize the impact on agency operations and the public.

Coordinate with the project team, C&D staff, contractors, consultants, MTA operating agency staff, and other stakeholders.

Coordinate with MTA operating agency staff to ensure necessary actions, approvals, and resources are in place to support project delivery.

Ensure project activities follow established requirements and adhere to relevant standards, guidelines, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ensure safety and quality are integral to project operations.

Prepare and monitor implementation of project plans, quality plans, and work plans; coordinate with Safety and Quality Management staff.

Manage project documentation for quality, completeness, and accuracy; monitor progress against scope, schedule, and budget.

Work with Development and Contracts throughout the project life-cycle, including scope development, design criteria, procurement packages, bid/proposal evaluation, change orders, and contractor/consultant evaluation processes.

Maintain comprehensive project document control and retention, and prepare reports, presentations, research, and studies.

Manage staff selection, coaching, training, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions as needed.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.

Minimum of eight (8) years related experience.

Minimum of four (4) years in the management of construction programs/projects or supervisory role in a large, multi-faceted organization.

Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect.

PMP and CCM Certifications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a high-profile, high-pressure environment.

Proven leadership as a change agent and creative thinker to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.

Excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

Proficient computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle) and strong business administration skills (presentations, report writing, time management).
