Overview
Assistant Store Manager - Atascadero at GOODWILL CENTRAL COAST. Role summary: Assist with store managerial duties, including responsibility for store operations in the Store Manager’s absence. Serve donors and customers, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Provide outstanding customer service to promote store sales and achieve store goals. Responsibilities
Oversee store operations in the Store Manager’s absence and ensure store staff deliver customer service according to defined procedures. Guide staff on sales questions or issues; inform Store Manager or designee of personnel-related problems. Provide input to the Store Manager on staff performance appraisals and counseling. Provide outstanding Donor and Customer service. Greet store customers; offer assistance and suggestions to customers in making product selections. Complete customer transactions, following all cash handling and cash register procedures. Perform defined store opening/closing procedures. Conduct frequent training with staff. Place/display inventory on the sales floor, following defined procedures; straighten and/or rearrange merchandise to increase customer appeal and ensure a neat and safe work environment. Assist with stock rotation and markdowns as directed by the Store Manager or designee. Prepare store donations and rotated merchandise for transfer to the central processing plant. Identify donated items for e-commerce. Communicate problems, complaints, potential theft, and/or safety issues to the Store Manager or designee. Ensure the store sales floor is clean and organized at all times, providing a safe experience for shoppers, donors, vendors, employees, program participants, and all visitors. May perform Donor services such as taking donations, documenting donation information and communicating with Donors. Perform daily sanitizing of store and donation locations; may perform minor janitorial duties as required/assigned. Travel to other Goodwill Central Coast locations may be required. Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: One-year previous sales experience or equivalent, including six months in a lead sales associate capacity, or equivalent. Knowledge: Basic math; familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission; familiarity with electronic cash registers. Skills/Aptitudes: Effective communication in English (basic Spanish preferred); ability to maintain self-control, work with others, and explain decisions clearly; ability to open/close procedures, cash handling, and related store operations paperwork; attention to safety and hazard awareness. Equipment: Familiarity with standard store equipment and cash handling tools. Physical & Work Environment
The job involves standing, walking, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, and operating cash registers and material handling equipment; normal hearing/vision required. Employment Details
